Jackie Dorst’s Best Practices webinar provides the latest information from CDC for patient protection during orthodontic care. Webinar attendees will learn how to sterilize orthodontic instruments to meet the current Standard of Care for state dental board infection control standards and CDC current guidelines.

Emerging diseases, complex orthodontic technology equipment, medically compromised patients and infection prevention breaches prompted CDC to publish the new Summary of Infection Prevention Practices in Dental Settings – Basic Expectations for Safe Care. Jackie will review the CDC Summary and provide recommendations for products and techniques to help your practice meet the current Standard of Care for infection prevention.

After this lecture, you will be able to:

1.) List the 7 basic CDC Infection Prevention Standards.
2.) Identify sterile instrument package for orthodontic instruments.
3.) Demonstrate correct use of sterile indicators.
4.) Recognize correct use of barriers and/or disinfectants for contaminated clinical contact surfaces.
