Orthodontic Strategies for Sleep Apnea

This course will provide you with an understanding of the physiology of sleep apnea and the current diagnostic and treatment options, as well as a new orthodontic approach and its protocols. The orthodontic approach is intended to provide patients with immediate relief from OSA, as well as changes to the airway that may address an underlying cause. This course is designed to give you the knowledge and skills to effectively incorporate an Orthodontic Obstructive Sleep Apnea Program into your practice.

After this lecture you will be able to:

1.) Discuss the physiology of snoring and sleep disordered breathing.
2.) Explain the clinical signs and screening methods for identifying Obstructive Sleep Apnea.
3.) Explain obstructive Sleep Apnea diagnostic choices, including patient-friendly Home Sleep Testing.
4.) Explain how the orthodontic strategy differs from conventional treatment options.
5.) Explain the role of mandibular positioning and maxillary arch development in airway management.
6.) Explain how to partner with health care professionals for diagnosis, comprehensive care, and new referral sources.
7.) Explain medical insurance billing made easy.
8.) Explain how to successfully integrate sleep apnea screening, testing and treatment into your practice.
9.) Discuss effective sleep apnea patient education and practice marketing activities and resources.

Dr. Paquette has written and published multiple articles for scientific journals and has authored two textbook chapters. He is actively involved in ongoing research utilizing the latest technological advances in orthodontic appliances and computers to enhance both patient treatment and office efficiency. His work with ORMCO has included development and testing of new appliances and lecturing worldwide since 1992. He is currently a founding member of the Henry Schein Orthodontics Sleep Apnea Task force and a clinical advisor to Henry Schein Orthodontics. Dr. Paquette maintains his full time private practice limited exclusively to orthodontics in Mooresville, NC.

Length of session:
Each session consisting of lecture and audience questions will last 75 minutes.

Cost:
Multiple participants may participate for a registration fee of only $50 per office when using a common email address.

Continuing Education:
Each participant who completes the Webinar will earn 1.0 CE credit.
