Join Dr. Dan Bills for this Complimentary Business of Orthodontics webinar, Virtual Insanity! Virtual Orthodontic Visits Before, During, and After a Global Pandemic — As with many practices, Dr. Dan Bills was forced to develop a complete virtual treatment platform to continue to manage patients’ treatment during mandated closure during the pandemic. Serendipitously, Dr. Bills and his team learned a lot about the potential for virtual visits to enhance (not replace) the in-office patient experience to help deliver quality orthodontic care in an effective, efficient, and convenient manner — a mindset change which wouldn't have been explored pre-pandemic.

Learning Objectives:

  • Discuss the concept of virtual orthodontic consultations as a tool for quality orthodontic offices to provide the convenience that some patients are craving. (Pre-Pandemic Mindset)
  • Explain in detail a Virtual Treatment Platform that was developed in order to manage patients’ treatment during mandated closure (Pandemic Mindset)
  • Explore what this forced workflow change has taught us about the perceptions and logistics of virtual visits, and how we have successfully utilized them to improve our practice now that we are back in the office treating patients (Post-Pandemic Mindset)

Immediately following Dr. Bills, Teledentistry Legislation expert Amber Lovatos will discuss Bridging the Knowledge Gap and Navigating Teledentistry Policy. Amber will walk you through the considerations for participating in teledentistry; state practice acts, billing, insurance reimbursement, legislation, codes, HIPAA, technology, licensure, barriers, and other consideration.

Learning Objectives:

  • Learn to dissect your specific state dental practice act for possible limiting verbiage to telecommunication in dentistry.
  • Learn to identify barriers to teledentistry and how-to address
    them.
  • Develop teledentistry opportunities while remaining compliant with your state’s practice act.
