Speakers:

Join Dr. Colin West, MD, PhD, FACP from the Mayo Clinic when he discusses Optimizing Well-Being in Orthodontic Training and Practice: Growth Without Trauma (1.25 CE) on November 8 from 7 - 8:15 pm CT. Whether you're a student, a full-time educator, a part-time educator, and/or a practicing orthodontist, there can be a lot of stress in our lives. Before COVID and the Great Resignation, there was talk about stress and burnout, but what our students and educators have experienced the last several years has only increased the stress and potential burnout.

Dr. West's work involves the promotion of doctor wellbeing and reducing doctor distress. As the Director of the Mayo Clinic's Program on Physician Well-Being, Dr. West has published numerous reports on wellbeing and distress, focusing on both epidemiology and solutions. In understanding the factors of both, you can improve your overall healthy and wellbeing, but you can also improve the treatment and overall delivery of care to your orthodontic patients.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand the scope of the problem of learner and practicing clinician distress in orthodontics.
  • Summarize contributors to and consequences of dental professional distress.
