Can't We All Just Get Along?

Credits: None available.

Ever wonder ... "How come everyone doesn't think the same way I do?  Or, why parents just don't listen to what I'm telling them? Or, how can my team member not do that task the same way I do?"  Join Amy Demas, MBA, DTM, DFSS when she presents Can't We All Just Get Along, Thursday, April 14, 12 - 1:00 pm Central Time (1.0 CE).

Our last 2 years have been challenging, to say the least. And as time has gone on, our patience has worn thin, our safety measures have changed a multitude of times, our patients are beyond frustrated with the fun activities that have been canceled over time. And when that happens, we can be left wondering why we can’t all just get along.

We work in a great industry but sometimes we need a little help with some specific strategies when conversations feel like they are getting tough. Those tricky situations can be with patients, their parents, or (gasp) even our teammates. We can be left wondering, “What just happened?”

Sign up today to gain insights and script templates to help you be a more effective communicator at work and in your personal life!

The management of missing teeth presents some challenges to the orthodontist. Upper lateral incisors and second premolars are commonly missing, and decisions need to be made on whether to close spaces or open spaces for prosthetic replacement. Maintenance of spaces in growing individuals then needs to be considered. This presentation will be a highly clinical lecture with a review of the main issues facing an orthodontist in treatment planning of missing teeth.

2019 Webinar - Navigating the World of Insurance Coding

Credits: None available.

Dealing with dental insurance for our patients can be both a blessing and a curse, as it helps patients afford much needed orthodontic treatment but necessitates substantial work on our part.

A systematic and consistent insurance protocol is imperative for your orthodontic practice to be profitable. Whether your practice accepts assignment or not, or is in-network or not, this presentation will help clear up some of the challenging aspects of the process. We will discuss terminology used in insurance submission, review specific dental insurance codes, and share many tips and tricks to help you maximize receipt of insurance benefit payments.

As coding can be quite confusing Dr. Depew will discuss how to accurately use the various CDT and ICD-10 codes you may use in your practice as well as the implications of the Affordable Care Act.  Please note, that some Insurance Codes will change from year-to-year.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Identify the proper terminology and codes needed for accurate insurance submission.
  2. Develop a system to submit and follow-up on insurance claims to help satisfy patient accounts and help your patients take advantage of their benefits.
  3. Choose the level of involvement your practice will have with insurance companies.

Dr. Douglas Depew has maintained an orthodontic practice since 1990. He graduated from the University of Georgia, received his DMD degree from the Medical College of Georgia, and his Certificate in Orthodontics and Master's Degree from Baylor College of Dentistry. He is the recipient of numerous achievements and awards. Dr. Depew is the founder and academic director of Trapezio, home of the Academy of Orthodontic Assisting, and is recognized for his knowledge in training of orthodontic staff. He is an active member of several dental and orthodontic organizations and is active in the community through involvement in youth sports, schools, and business development.
