AS21B17 - Finishing Treatment in Patients with Clefts: No Detail is Too Small

Jun 25, 2021 4:30pm ‐ Jun 25, 2021 4:55pm

Description

Orthodontic finishing and detailing has to tailor the knowledge and expertise of the orthodontist and the cooperation of the Prosthodontist, Maxillofacial surgeon, Plastic Surgeon, Implantologist and any other specialists involved in the treatment. The orthodontist will have to organize the final treatment plan that everyone agrees upon and make sure that the patient is following the guidelines and instructions provided. Treating our patients to high standards of ideal occlusion and esthetics is not always an easy task but it is something that we should be striving for. We should start treatment early in life but always with the end in mind.

Learning Objectives:
  • Understand why Team approach is important.
  • Identify details that are important on finishing treatment.
  • Avoid mistakes in treating individuals with clefts.
