Annual Session 2021

AS21B14 - Anterior Open Bite Treatment and Stability Outcomes Using TADs and Aligners vs Aligners Alone

Jun 25, 2021 3:15pm ‐ Jun 25, 2021 3:35pm

Description

With advances in TADs and clear aligner therapy, orthodontists have more options to treat anterior open bite and vertical maxillary excess patients. This lecture will focus on the mechanics and results using clear aligners with or without TADs to treat the vertical dimension of these difficult types of malocclusions. The stability and retention to control the vertical will be covered. The results and stability of closing anterior open bites using clear aligners vs fixed appliances with TADs vs surgery will also be compared.

Learning Objectives:
  • Increase confidence in using TADs and/or clear aligners to close an anterior open bite or improve a vertical maxillary excess case.
  • Evaluate when to use and where to place TADs to aid in correcting an anterior open bite or vertical maxillary excess with aligners.
  • Understand retention needs and stabililty of anterior open bite treatment.
