Description

One-half to two-thirds of the variation in external apical root resorption (EARR) associated with orthodontic treatment can be attributed to individual genetic variation in groups of patients. Clinical and basic research on genetic factors in EARR and how the research needs to be applied to predictive clinical studies will be discussed.

Learning Objectives:

  • Clinical factors related to EARR
  • Biologic processes involved in occurrence of EARR
  • Application of current research and developing technology for future prediction of EARR
