Annual Session 2021

AS21B69 - A Less Invasive Surgery First Approach

Jun 27, 2021 2:45pm ‐ Jun 27, 2021 3:05pm

Description

In Surgery First for Skeletal Class III patients, many teams apply two-jaw surgery, which is highly surgically invasive. That is, they adopt a method in which not only the mandibular setback but also the maxillary advancement is carried out at the same time, and clockwise rotation of the maxillo-mandibular complex. On the other hand, since our team applies the skeletal anchorage system for post-surgical orthodontics to most Surgery First cases, about 75% of the Surgery First patients could be corrected with less invasive One-jaw surgery.

Learning Objectives:
  • Identify the features of our Surgery First approach.
  • Evaluate the importance of Skeletal Anchorage in post-surgical orthodontic treatment.
  • Recognize the effectiveness of orthodontic biomechanics using Skeletal Anchorage after orthognathic surgery.
