Patients with Class III malocclusion and an anterior crossbite were successfully treated with facemask therapy in the mixed dentition. What about patients in the early permanent dentition? Can the addition of skeletal anchorage or TADs help in reducing the side effects of maxillary protraction? If so, what is the clinical protocol for management of these patients.

Learning Objectives:

  • Decide on the type of Class III patients that will be benefited by the use of skeletal anchorage or TADs for maxillary protraction.
  • Learn the advantage of using skeletal anchorage for maxillary expansion and protraction.
  • Implement the clinical management of patients treated with maxillary expansion with facemask and TADs.
