Eighteen families having at least one member with a Class II div 2 malocclusion were evaluated to determine the relative risk of Class II Division 2 in first-degree relatives of probands with Class II Division 2 malocclusion. Selected members based on pedigree structure and affected relatedness of two of the families had their genomic DNA undergo whole exome sequencing. Data from the calculation of the relative risks and data filtering of whole exome sequencing will be presented and discussed in terms of the possible mode of inheritance and genetic factors in this type of malocclusion.
Define the pleotropic phenotype of Class II div 2 malocclusion.
Recognize the process by which genes that may be related to a phenotype may be selected out of our approximately 21,000 genes.
Discuss the mode of inheritance and possible genetic factors involved in Class II div 2 malocclusion.
