Description

The classic approaches for surgery first in Class III adult patients had been well established, however, the surgery first approach for Class III adult patients with facial asymmetry has not been well addressed. The aim of this presentation is first to introduce the Class III cases with facial asymmetry indicated for surgery first approach through analyzing the the anterior/posterior and maxillary/mandibular occlusal cant, second to describe the principles in surgical planning, and third to suggest the techniques for solving the postoperative relapse orthodontically.

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify the cases fit for surgery first approach in Class III adult patients with facial asymmetry, through analyzing the the anterior/posterior and maxillary/mandibular occlusal cant.
  • Perform the surgical planning and postoperative orthodontic planning for Class III adult patients with facial asymmetry through surgery first approach.
  • Solve the postoperative skeletal relapse without going for 2nd jaw surgery.
