AS22B69 - Orthodontic Treatment in Patients with Periodontal Defects

The 4th National Oral Epidemiological Investigation of China: 90% adults have periodontal problems. Adult patients usually pay more attention to esthetics, but lacking of growth and development leads to reduction in the ability of periodontal remodeling. It is very important to effectively maintain good oral hygiene and healthy periodontal conditions before orthodontic treatment started and during the treatment period, close cooperation with periodontist is required. Cases of different periodontal conditions will be demonstrated in this presentation to discuss the strategy of the orthodontic treatment in patients with periodontal defects.

Learning Objectives:

  • Learn that periodontal treatment and oral hygiene maintenance are very important for adult orthodontic patients.
  • Learn that periodontal surgery, such as GBR, CGT, could help you provide a better periodontal condition and even help you get faster tooth movement.
  • Learn that PAOO surgery is helpful to prevent bone dehiscence and fenestrations in patients with thin labiobuccal alveolar bone.
