Annual Session 2022

AS22B72 - Applied Biomechanics to Multidisciplinary Care

May 23, 2022 9:20am ‐ May 23, 2022 9:50am

Credits: None available.

The integration of multiple specialists into patient care requires a team approach with excellent communication. Specific objectives are to be defined by the team and evaluated often as treatment progresses. The orthodontist contributes to the team by informing the team the types of tooth movements that are possible and the estimated duration and complexity with the different treatment alternatives. A solid biomechanics understanding is necessary for adequate tooth control.

Learning Objectives:

  • Comprehend how mini-implants in the ridge can be used to deliver complex biomechanics with predictable results.
  • Determine how clear aligners can be used to deliver the appropriate biomechanics for certain objectives of treatment in multidisciplinary care.
  • Determine different options for alveolar ridge development prior to implant placement in the anterior maxillary region.
