Description

Occasionally, the orthodontist is challenged to treat patients with anterior esthetic concerns such as worn, missing, or periodontally compromised teeth. These issues make planning and sequencing treatment difficult. This is when a creative and collaborative approach is required to achieve an esthetic and functional outcome. Since diagnosis ultimately dictates the treatment plan, making sure that this part of the process is done accurately is critical to achieving a successful result. Dr. Kokich will highlight the orthodontist’s role on the team in developing treatment options that optimize esthetics, while satisfying specific periodontal and restorative requirements for these patients.

Learning Objectives:

  • Utilize the interdisciplinary team when diagnosing and treating ortho/perio/restorative problems.
  • Appropriately sequence treatment when managing orthodontic patients with an interdisciplinary approach.
  • Identify the value of orthodontic treatment in order to facilitate the most conservative and esthetic restorative treatment.
