This presentation will describe the clinical outcomes of orthodontic intervention using the comprehensive mixed dentition treatment modality. Comparing successful and unsuccessful cases may elucidate predictors that facilitate or impede outcome and offer suggestions for clinical practice and future research. Other benefits and limitations of early treatment will be discussed, as well as the long-term stability of Class II correction in patients who received early treatment in the mixed dentition.
Learning Objectives:
Recognize the effectiveness and benefits of early treatment in correcting developing moderate-severe Class II malocclusions during the mixed dentition stage.
Establish some common characteristics of patients who represented successful and unsuccessful early treatment outcomes.
Identify morphological characteristics of the maxilla and mandible in different facial types using longitudinal growth studies.
