Daniel Bahner presents Cultural Humility: Understanding our Cultural Frameworks and Biases (1.25 CE). Implicit bias contributes to cultural insensitivity, which creates barriers to inclusion, performance, and engagement. Biases which encompass both favorable and unfavorable assessments, are activated involuntarily and without an individual’s awareness or intentional control. Daniel will help attendees take a look at their 'cultural lens' and provide attendees with an understanding of unintentional microaggressions and discrimination, share practices that attendees can apply to minimize or eliminate bias. Through learning, attendees will become better leaders, more effective communicators, and generate trust.
Learning Objectives:
Learn what cultural humility is and how it differs from cultural competency
Understand how someone's cultural lens give them biases, which can lead to microaggressions and workplace discrimination.
