The human face is a key element in the expression, identity and analysis of physical attractiveness and emotion. This multifaceted presentation will explore the face as depicted in art from different cultures and time periods. The presentation will include a critical appraisal of facial esthetic concepts in orthodontics, including related developments in biologic science and pseudoscience. Important elements of facial aging will be highlighted.
