The intent of this presentation is to describe and discuss the evidence concerning the following controversial questions: 1) Is orthodontic treatment a risk factor for the development of TMD? 2) Does two-stage treatment offer any benefits when compared to one-stage treatment? 3) Does extraction treatment produce worse facial esthetics when compared to non-extraction treatment? 4) Do Class II malocclusions spontaneously correct after rapid palatal expansion (RPE)?
