Description

The Role of Orthodontics in the Interdisciplinary Management of Esthetic Dilemmas

Some of the most challenging dilemmas are those that fall into a gray zone between traditional therapies. The complexities of diagnosing these problems, coupled with the lack of optimal treatment options, often lead to inappropriate treatment and disappointing compromises. Orthodontic approaches will be presented to enhance the treatment of these complex issues. It will focus on a time-proven interdisciplinary treatment philosophy and integrate exciting advances, such as surgically facilitated orthodontic therapy and intraoral skeletal anchorage to more predictably manage esthetic dilemmas

Learning Objectives:

  • Recognize that solutions to esthetic restorative dilemmas frequently fall into a “gray zone” between the different disciplines
  • Estimate that an interdisciplinary approach is needed to properly diagnose and treatment plan these problems
  • Analyze recent advances that now enable the interdisciplinary team to more predictably treat these problems
