Description

Current Applications of 3D Printing in Orthodontics

3D printing has transformed from a rapid prototyping technology in its early days and has evolved into a manufacturing technology as well, which is continuing to improve each and every year. This presentation will provide a general overview on 3D printing in orthodontics and will discuss various applications for use of 3D printing in orthodontics today. Dr. Lin will specifically review novel 3D printed indirect bonding systems which are currently available and then share his experiences with them.

After this lecture you will be able to:

  • List the different types of 3D printing technologies that are currently in use in orthodontics
  • Relate the current applications of 3D printing in orthodontics (i.e Phase I appliance fabrication, retainers, aligners, etc.)
  • Examine the processes involved with 3D printed indirect bonding systems

Cyber Security: Protecting Yourself and Your Practice

Hackers are becoming billionaires by holding your personal or practice data hostage for ransom. Ransomware has become an epidemic. The huge revenues it brings the hackers fuel the development of newer and even harder-to-stop attacks. Only 1 out of 35 antivirus products could even detect the latest Cryptowall attack on the first day of its release. Protecting yourself and your practice isn’t difficult, but it requires some attention. This session will focus on simple security improvements you can make in your life that will go a long way to protecting yourself and your practice. Mr. McEvoy promises to limit the Geek Speak and discuss issues in terms everyone can understand. He encourages you to bring your stories and challenges to share during the session.

After this lecture you will be able to:

  • Recognize the potential security risks for your computer network
  • Organize your security defense strategy with an IT policy
  • Relate how to safely use the Internet to minimize the risk of intrusion
