A few uncertainties about orthopedic treatment of Class III malocclusion create a negative mind-set about therapy. This lecture will examine the following: 1) the influence of orthopedic treatment on TMJ disorder, 2) long-term effect on growth of the mandible, and 3) a timing or duration of orthopedic appliance application. Diagnosis and treatment planning will be stressed with a focus on biomechanical force delivery. A systematic review will be sublimated with case presentations to illustrate important points in the orthopedic treatment of Class III malocclusion.
