Description

Principles of Fabrication and Adjustment of Clear Aligners for the In-office Orthodontic Laboratory

Technique will be presented for preparation of work models to create force to move teeth and create space to move teeth into to accomplish minor tooth movement of anterior teeth. Up to six anterior teeth can be moved simultaneously. Methods to adjust Essix-type clear aligners and commercially available aligners will be reviewed. An example of an adjustment to a commercially available aligner is an Invisalign patient with rotational lag of an upper lateral incisor (one adjustment may prevent the need for a refinement). Adjustments with Hilliard Thermopliers will be taught.

Learning Objectives:

  • Preparation of orthodontic work models to fabricate active Essix-type aligners
  • Techniques to adjust commercially available aligners to increase treatment efficiency
