AS17B60B - How Can We Make a Nice Chin? Magic of Vertical Control of Molars

Apr 25, 2017 3:30pm ‐ Apr 25, 2017 4:00pm

Description

Improving Facial esthetics is the goal of orthodontic treatment. More than 90% people who is seeking orthodontic treatment are very concern their dental and facial appearance. Those patients who have retruded mandible with high angle cases are eager to have their mandible grows. But unfortunately, most of them have to choose orthognathic surgery to achieve the better results. As we know, we use high pull headgear traditionally in Tweed-Merrifield directional force techniques to get better vertical control of molar and incisors. We intruded the molars and incisors to achieve the best vertical control of tooth movement, which we got the nice chin after treatment. The Z-angle will be getting normal and facial esthetics will be improved dramatically.

Learning Objectives:

  • Recognize the importance and vertical control during orthodontic treatment.
  • Perform the microscrews for vertical control of molars and incisors.
  • Identify the mechanics how the mandible rotates up and forward to get the better chin.
