AS17B63C - Skeletal Maturation Indicators: Their Reliability in Prediction

Apr 25, 2017 2:15pm ‐ Apr 25, 2017 2:45pm

The timing of orthodontic treatment in adolescent patients plays a significant role in planning and achieving a stable and esthetic outcome. A review of the literature provides current information on the various methods available and their accuracy in predicting skeletal maturation.

This lecture will aid each clinician in appropriately selecting the indicator which provides the most accurate skeletal age assessment in treatment planning.

Learning Objectives:

  • Distinguish the skeletal maturation indicators for pubertal growth spurt assessment.
  • Recognize criteria to determine which indicator will best support your treatment planning.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of growth predictors in patient care.
