AS17LS63 - Proactive Practice Management: The 8 Step Discipline

Apr 24, 2017 2:45pm ‐ Apr 24, 2017 3:45pm

Description

As practices develop and grow, orthodontic practice managers, treatment coordinators, clinical and administrative assistants find themselves with expanding roles in the treatment communication process. These busy orthodontic team members can benefit from a standardized system of communication that doubles as a risk management program. The speaker has worked in orthodontic practice management for over 40 years and, with Dr. David Musich, has developed “The 8 Step Discipline®” System for Standardized Communication as an enhanced due diligence protocol. Initially, each step was designed to create specific solutions for treatment planning and communication with patients, parents, general dentists and dental specialists. However, it quickly became apparent that “The 8 Step Discipline®” is much more than just a system of communication; it is also an invaluable tool for medico-legal protection in patient charting and a subtle, but effective marketing strategy that leaves a lasting impression. This program will present details of “The 8 Step Discipline®”, its practical application in practice management situations, its capacity to engage orthodontic team members in the due diligence process, and its impact on practice marketing results.

Learning Objectives:

  • Recognize the value of standardized communication systems in practice management.
  • Discuss how to improve both marketing and risk management while using designated milestones in treatment to generate reports.
  • Identify the clinical and/or administrative problems that the 8 Step Discipline® can resolve in both large and small office settings.
