This lecture presents an overview of advances in high-resolution 3D imaging, including surface scanners and Cone-Beam CT imaging. Approaches for 3D image capture, image reconstruction, registration, display and measurements are overviewed. The continued growth and integration of technology into our practices is enhanced by the ability of 3D imaging systems to quickly and efficiently capture a dimensional snapshot of our patients’ treatment. It also offers the potential for additional features such as 3D printing.
