Decoronation: The Possibilities

Feb 10, 2018 2:15pm ‐ Feb 10, 2018 3:00pm

Ankylosis is a serious complication following dental trauma resulting in progressive resorption of the root and eventually causing loss of the tooth. Inhibition of growth and development of the alveolar process is also seen in young growing patients as a result of ankylosis. In recent years results from research and clinic has shown ways to manage such situations by decoronation. The lecture will give an overview aiming at understanding the development, progression, diagnosis of ankylosis, timing and how to carry out decoronation.

Learning Objectives:

  • Comprehend the etiology and development of ankyloses.
  • Diagnose the development of related complications.
  • Comprehend and manage decoronation.
