The Orthodontic 'Hare & Tortoise' Story: A Reality Check on Accelerated Tooth Movement
Contemporary orthodontic mechanotherapy is focussed on being "patient centric" and committed to providing effective results in an efficient manner. Efficiency focuses on the appropriate results with minimal discomfort and risk in a given time frame.Treatment timing has always been the quintessential 4th dimension in orthodontics. The "acceleration agenda " dwells on this very dimension, often with procedures and sometimes with products. This presentation will serve to be a reality check, with lessons learnt from clinical examples and research data on various modalities to accelerate orthodontic tooth movement. The "Hare & Tortoise" legend will be revisited with a twist to provide contemporary clinical information on the products and procedures that claim acceleration is a reality.
