Management of Impacted Canines: Diagnosis, Biomechanics and Periodontal Considerations

This lecture will explore the diagnosis, the biomechanics of erupting impacted canines and provide strategies to control and minimize side effects. The presentation will include a discussion on the type of canine exposure to optimize the periodontal health and esthetic outcomes.

  • Diagnose the position of impacted canines from CBCT.
  • Identify and predict the force system and minimize the unfavorable side effects of mechanics used.
  • Choose the preferred surgical procedure when referring for canine exposure.
