Description
Maxillary expansion with traditional rapid palatal expansion appliances is limited to treatment of maxillary deficiencies before the pubertal growth spurt. Treatment with tooth-borne expansion appliances also have side effects such as tipping and extrusion of anchorage teeth. The speaker will introduce the use of bone-borne expansion appliance for maxillary expansion which may expand the scope of orthopedic treatment in young adults.
