The management of missing maxillary lateral incisors has changed dramatically over the past two decades. Today, restorative dentists in the United States reject canine substitution and want their patients to have implants. After being involved in implant replacement for these types of situations for over 20 years, I have seen some phenomenal results and I have seen some disasters. What I would like to accomplish in this presentation is to share with the audience the pearls that I have learned, which can help to avoid some of the pitfalls that I have seen, when implants are used to replace missing maxillary lateral incisors.
Explain the esthetic keys for lateral incisor implant success;
Recognize the situations that produce esthetic failures with lateral incisor implants;
Explain how to satisfy the needs of the restorative dentist and surgeon when implants are chosen to replace missing laterals.
