Dr. Lucia Cevidanes is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Orthodontics and Pediatric Dentistry at the University of Michigan. Dr. Cevidanes completed her orthodontics training in Brazil in 1994 and received her PhD at the University of North Carolina in 2003, where she has also served as a full time faculty for the past six years. She joined the faculty at the University of Michigan in July 2011. Dr. Cevidanes has published over 50 manuscripts on 3D imaging for which she has received research grants from the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research. Her research work has been recognized by the American Association of Orthodontists Thomas M. Graber Award in 2005 and the B.F. Dewel Award in 2006 for the best clinical papers published in the American Journal of Orthodontics. She has also received Teaching Fellowship Awards from American Association of Orthodontics Foundation in 2008 and 2009. Her research interests include 3D imaging to solve difficult clinical problems in orthodontics, studying current and new treatment approaches and technical procedures, and understanding treatment outcomes for craniofacial anomalies and dentofacial deformities.
