Dr. Eric JW Liou DDS, MS

Dr. Eric Liou is an associate professor in the Department of Craniofacial Orthodontics, and Graduate Institute of Craniofacial Medicine of Chang Gung University, Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, & DentWay International Dental Hospital, Taipei, Taiwan. He is also a visiting professor in the Department of Orthodontics, Showa University, Tokyo, Japan. For his profession affiliations, Dr. Liou currently is the Editor in Chief of the APOS Trends in Orthodontics, ECM of World Federation of Orthodontists, and the IPP of Asian Pacific Orthodontic Society. He has received 13 awards and honors, including a receipant of the 100 Most-cited Articles in Orthodontics, endosed by Angle Orthodontics; and the World’s top 2% Scientists with carrier-long (1960~) & single year impacts in 2020, 2021, jointly published by Elsevier BV and Stanford University. His main clinical and research interests are in TADs, orthodontic tooth movement, surgical and non-surgical innovative approaches for canting, facial asymmetry, Class III malocclusion in growing or non-growing patients, and treatment for cleft lip and palate and craniofacial anomalies. Dr. Liou has numerous presentations especially on the topics of Class III or cleft lip and palate and craniofacial anomalies orthognathic camouflage treatment, treatment of occlusal cant and facial asymmetry with yin-yang arch wires, maxillary orthopedic protraction, surgery first orthognathic approach, and TADs.
