Mr. Scott Litch MA, JD

C. Scott Litch, Esq., CAE, is Chief Operating Officer and General Counsel for the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, headquartered in Chicago, Illinois. Founded in 1947, the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD) is the not-for-profit professional membership association representing the specialty of pediatric dentistry. Mr. Litch manages internal operations and planning, including human resources; directs the government relations and public policy agenda; and analyzes and responds to legal issues affecting the association and its members. Within the AAPD he serves as Secretary to the AAPD Political Action Committee, ex-officio member of the Constitution and Bylaws Committee, and staff liaison to the Council on Government Affairs, Credentials and Ethics Committee, and Policy and Procedure Committee.  Mr. Litch has over 25 years of association management experience, working closely with and advising various volunteer entities such as boards of directors, committees, and task forces. He received a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Maryland’s Francis King Carey School of Law and a Master’s degree from Duke University’s Sanford School of Public Policy. He is a licensed attorney in three jurisdictions.  Mr. Litch received the 2012 Association Professional Achievement award from the Association Forum. He has served on the Forum’s Board of Directors, and as Chair of the Forum’s Political Action Committee, Public Policy Committee, and Shared Interest Group of No. 2 Executives/Chief Operating Officers. For the Forum he has also taught CAE study preparation courses, and seminars on association law. Mr. Litch has served on the Legal Section Council of the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE), and has been a “Top Counsel” panelist for the ASAE’s annual Chicago Association Law Symposium.
