Dr. David Cummins DDS, MS

Dr. David Cummins received his DDS from Indiana University in 1986. He worked as a Dental Officer in the United States Navy for 3 years and a contract dentist in a private practice for 1 year before attending the Graduate Orthodontic Program at the University of Iowa. He received an MS in Orthodontics in 1992 and his Master's Thesis generated six peer reviewed papers in the AJODO and Angle Orthodontist, with one winning B.F. and Helen E. Dewel Award. Dr. Cummins established his orthodontic practice in Bellingham, WA in 1992 where he has practiced for 33 years. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics, Fellow of the American College of Dentists, and a Member of the Pierre Fauchard Society. His orthodontic interests are evidence-based Dentofacial Orthopedics, and he has been a guest lecturer on the use of the Herbst appliance at the orthodontic residencies of Indiana University and the University of Iowa. He has also developed a technique for closing the spaces of missing mandibular premolars in full step Class II malocclusions, eliminating the need for implants and crowns, which was published in a 2018 Ormco/AOA Case Studies manual.
