Elisabeth Stelson PhD, MSW, LSW, MPH
Elisabeth Stelson, PhD, MSW, LSW, MPH is an Assistant Professor at Washington University in St. Louis School of Public Health. As a licensed social worker and social epidemiologist, her research examines how working conditions affect the health and well-being of healthcare and social service providers. An expert in occupational vicarious trauma, Dr. Stelson conducted the first study to identify the physical health effects of vicarious trauma and developed the NIH-funded Vicarious Occupational Trauma Exposure (VOTE) Index to identify and quantify how workers are exposed to vicarious trauma in their work environments. Her research is motivated by her practice experience managing programs focused on community health workers, intimate partner violence, and homelessness.
Dr. Stelson received her PhD from the Havard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, MPH and MSW from the University of Pennsylvania, and AB from Brown University.
