Dr. Hwa Sung Chae DDS, MS, PhD

Dr. Hwa Sung Chae is an ABO Board-Certified orthodontist and Professor in the Department of Orthodontics at Ajou University School of Medicine, South Korea. He earned his DDS and PhD from Seoul National University and completed his orthodontic residency and MS at UCLA. He pursued a fellowship in temporomandibular joint disorders at the Eastman Dental Center, University of Rochester. Dr. Chae serves as an editorial board member of Scientific Reports and as secretary general of the Korean Society of Orthodontists (KSO). His academic and clinical interests include surgical orthodontics, diagnosis and treatment of skeletal discrepancies, soft-tissue analysis, population genetics, alveolar bone response, 3D-printed aligners, airway and breathing, and machine-learning–based prediction of treatment outcomes.
