Dr. Ilana Zinn DMD, MS

Director, Cleft-Craniofacial Orthodontics, John Hopkins University

Dr. Ilana Zinn is a craniofacial orthodontist and an assistant professor of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Her areas of clinical expertise include nasoalveolar molding, interceptive orthodontics and comprehensive orthodontics for children with craniofacial anomalies. Dr. Zinn earned her DMD from Rutgers School of Dental Medicine and a Master of Science and certificate in orthodontics from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry. She completed a fellowship in cleft-craniofacial and special care orthodontics at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. Dr. Zinn directs the craniofacial orthodontic clinic at Johns Hopkins, utilizing her skills in nasoalveolar molding and advanced orthodontic techniques. Dr. Zinn's contributions extend beyond her clinical role; she is a prominent researcher and leader in her field. She serves as a board member and director of research for CCD Smiles, a major non-profit for cleidocranial dysplasia, and is vice-chair of the AAO's Craniofacial and Special Care Member Interest Group. Her research interests include the genetic underpinnings of craniofacial disorders and the development of clinical treatment guidelines for rare conditions. Her work has been supported by prestigious grants and has resulted in numerous publications and presentations at national and international conferences.
