Dr. Kyungmin Clara Lee DDS, MSD, PhD

Dr. Kyungmin Clara Lee is a Professor in the Department of Orthodontics at the Chonnam National University School of Dentistry, South Korea. She graduated from the Chonnam National University School of Dentistry and completed the Orthodontic postgraduate program of the same University, earning a Master’s degree and Ph.D. degree. Immediately after her graduation and certificate program in Orthodontics, Dr. Lee joined the faculty at Chonnam National University. Her main research interests are (1) 3D imaging processing using CBCT, intraoral scanner, and 3D facial scanner in clinical orthodontics, (2) 3D Geometric Morphhometrics, (3) Surgery-first approach in surgical orthodontic treatment, (4) airway simulation using computerized flow dynamics. Dr. Lee has been strongly involved in student research mentoring including Orthodontic residents, dental students, and undergraduate students. Dr. Lee currently practices Orthodontics at the Chonnam Dental Hospital at Gwangju. She is a member of the Korean Association of Orthodontists and the American Association of Orthodontists. She was awarded Young Scientist Research Award from the Korean Association of Orthodontists in 2017 and was an invited speaker of the Annual Scientific Congress of the Korea Association of Orthodontists in 2019. Recently, she is doing her research plan about the collaboration of geometric morphometrics with Orthodontics and Anthropology. Furthermore, she has developed a deep learning software program using 3D U-net CNN which can analyze human skulls 3-dimensionally.
