Layne McCord DMD, MS, MS

Dr. Layne McCord is a practicing orthodontist with extensive hands-on experience in orthodontic insurance coding from both the clinical and administrative perspectives. His orthodontic career started by opening a practice from scratch and has since purchased additional practices, and successfully sold practices—giving him firsthand insight into how accurate, compliant coding directly impacts efficiency, maximizes reimbursement, and impacts the overall financial health of a practice.

Dr. McCord currently represents the AAO at the ADA’s Code Maintenance Committee and currently serves as Chair of the AAO’s Council on Benefits.

Early in his career, Dr. McCord personally filed orthodontic insurance claims while building his practice. That real-world experience continues to guide his work today, with a focus on proper code use, compliance, and helping orthodontic teams understand how accurate coding supports stronger financial outcomes and long-term practice success.
