Dr. Margaret Yang PhD

Margaret Yang is the Director of Student Affairs and Engagement at Penn Dental Medicine and a PhD candidate in Educational Psychology at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. She brings a strong academic foundation and interdisciplinary experience to the field, earning an M.S.Ed in Higher Education and Reading/Writing/Literacy from the University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Education. For her dissertation, Margaret will be conducting a national study on predictors of anxiety and depression in dental students. An active contributor to the field of education, Margaret has been invited to present at prestigious national conferences on the topic of dental student and faculty wellness. She will present at the 2025 American Dental Education Association Annual Session and the 2025 American College Personnel Association Annual Convention. In previous years, Margaret presented at the 2023 National Association of Student Personnel Administrators Annual Session and the 2023 American Dental Education Association Annual Session, showcasing her expertise in wellness, higher education, and academic support. In addition to academic presentations, Margaret is deeply involved in committee leadership and consulting roles, currently serving a three-year term as an Advisor for the American Dental Education Association's Post-Doctoral Application Support Services Section. She completed her term as the Chair of the Admissions, Financial Aid, and Student Affairs Section in 2023. She also serves as a consultant for the University of Pennsylvania Graduate Student Mental Health Task Force and as a Board Member for the University of Pennsylvania Crisis Management Advisory Board. At Penn Dental Medicine, Margaret has chaired the Committee on Cultural Growth for the past six years, demonstrating her commitment to fostering inclusive and supportive academic environments. Margaret is dedicated to advancing educational practices and supporting student and faculty wellness through research, leadership, and cross-disciplinary collaboration.
