Dr. Meenakshi Vishwanath BDS, MDS, Mdent.Sc., MOrthRCS

Dr. Meenakashi Vishwanath received her Dental Degree from Mahatma Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Dental Sciences and Masters in Orthodontics from SDM College of Dental Sciences in India. She moved to the United States in 2012, and completed two fellowships in Orthodontics; from UT Health at San Antonio and the University of Connecticut Health respectively, after which she went on to complete a MS and Certificate in Orthodontics from the University of Connecticut Health. Dr. Vishwanath is a Diplomat of the American Board of Orthodontics and has a Membership in Orthodontics at the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh, United Kingdom. She was previously a full time faculty member in an orthodontics department in India and has continued to be in orthodontic academia after graduation in the U.S. as well. She is currently an associate professor and the Program Director at the University of Nebraska Medical Center - College of Dentistry. Dr. Vishwanath is also the recipient of several honors and awards, most notable among them being: finalist for the Craniofacial Biology Research Awards at both the 2015 and 2017 IADR meetings and winning the second place in the Charley Schultz Resident Scholar Award competition at the 2017 American Association of Orthodontics (AAO) Annual Session. Dr. Vishwanath has several scientific publications and faculty development awards from the AAOF. Her research mainly focuses on clinical and translational research with particular emphasis on orthodontic biomechanics and virtual surgical planning. Dr. Vishwanath also peer reviews scientific articles for several international journals. In 2023, she was elected to the board of directors of the American Board of Orthodontics (ABO). The election took place April 21 at the American Association of Orthodontists (AAO) House of Delegates meeting in conjunction with the 2023 AAO Annual Session in Chicago.
