Dr. Raisa Catunda obtained her DDS degree in 2011 in Brazil and proceeded to take a masters in Periodontology. Orthodontics has been her passion since undergrad school, however logistics wise in her home country made her postpone this dream. In 2016 she finally came to Canada to pursue her Doctor of Philosophy degree in Orthodontics which she will complete by July 2023. The focus of her research is white spot lesions, microbiome and severe forms of periodontitis. In 2020, she was awarded the Biomedical Research Awards Award by the American Association of Orthodontists Foundation for the pilot project she is currently presenting the data at this conference.
