Dr. Vanessa Paredes-Gallardo PhD, DDS, MD
Dr. Vanessa Paredes Gallardo is a Chairman Professor at University of Valencia (Spain) Department of Orthodontics and member of the College of Diplomate of Spanish Board of Orthodontics (SBO). She is also Vicedean at the Dentistry School of Valencia. After receiving her dental degree from the University of Valencia, she completed her orthodontic training at the Complutense University of Madrid. She then went back to her hometown of Valencia, where she earned her PhD degree. She was the recipient of the Year’s Best Academic Record Award in both her dental and PhD degrees. Dr. Paredes’s current research interests are focused on Interdisciplinary treatment, TADS, CBCT and other 3D imaging techniques at the University of Valencia where she has both pre-doctoral and graduate teaching responsibilities. She co-directs the 3 year-orthodontic post graduated program in Orthodontics and especially enjoys working with the residents as she has had a lifelong passion for teaching. Dr. Paredes also directs the orthodontic resident exchange program between the University of Valencia and the University of Minnesota. She has published over 100 peer-reviewed articles and several chapters of books, including several articles in the AJODO journal, European Journal of Orthodontics, Progress in Orthodontics and in the Angle Orthodontists journal (both research articles and clinical cases). She has given over 50 invited lectures throughout the world Spain, USA (AAO 2019 and 2024 Annual Session), Argentina (2023 SAO), Italy (2022 SIDO), Mexico, Portugal and Chile, and to Minnesota and Harvard residents programme and serves as a reviewer for several well-known peer-reviewed journals. Dr. Paredes has received several awards for scientific and clinical excellence including the 2018 CDABO Case Report of the Year Award from the American Association of Orthodontics. She was the first European orthodontist to receive this award. She was also the recipient of the 2018 and 2022 Case Report Award of the Spanish Society of Orthodontics (SEDO). Dr. Paredes maintains a part-time private practice in Valencia where she employs the latest orthodontic technology and remains up to date in the newest techniques. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and daughter (who is in dental school). She loves traveling all around the world. She loves exercising and running and has completed nine half-marathons and a marathon! Her next challenge will be the 2026 New York City Marathon!
