Dr. Monica Li leads a distinguished panel of doctors for Orthodontic Care for Patients with ASD and/or ADHD (1.5 CE) ... In recent years, the prevalence of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) has increased significantly. Patients with ASD and/or ADHD may have specific dental and behavioral attributes, especially in children, which require special attention from health care providers. Children and teenagers are the major patient population for orthodontic practice. The question is, do our orthodontic postgraduate programs prepare graduates to treat the patients with ASD and/or ADHD? This webinar panel will be a fast-paced, but highly informative session!

It will include short learning sessions on the following ...

Dr. Mark S. Wolff will review the identification and classifications of ASD and ADHD. Including the current CODA requirements on this aspect
Dr. Nikki Wei will present the current education status on ASD and/or ADHD patient management by a current survey study
Dr. Ilana M Zinn discusses the malocclusion features of patients with ASD and/or ADHD and how to manage the patients in a hospital-based environment
Dr. Andrew Fraser covers how to manage the patients in a private practice environment
Dr. Bhavna Shroff will discuss how to manage the patients in the postgraduate orthodontic clinic

The Group will then come together to discuss ...

  • How is your training background prepared you for this task?
  • Do you feel your training background fully prepared you for this task; if not, what addition resources did you utilized after graduation?
  • How about adult patients with ASD and/or ADHD?
  • What’s the ethical consideration for neglecting the care of patients with ASD and/or ADHD
