Join Dr. Nejat Erverdi for A Novel Approach in Orthodontics: Archwise Distraction Osteogenesis (1.5 CE), Distraction osteogenesis is a magic tool in medicine. It is used in different areas of dentistry and medicine. For the treatment of some clinical problems, it is the only clinical method which is indicated. General knowledge about distraction osteogenesis is that; It is a linear procedure. Here the question comes; Is it possible to achieve archwise distraction?
We had begun to study on this topic almost about 20 years ago and at the end we were able to develop a successful method to achieve curvilinear distraction. AWDA – Archwise Distraction Appliance – is a rigid, tooth-borne, custom-made appliance that is developed to control the distraction vector with double archwire system.
In this presentation this method will be introduced and discussed while sharing several different clinical cases.
