Skeletal Asymmetries in 3-D: Optimizing Diagnosis and Treatment Planning
This lecture presents ways to optimize diagnosis and treatment planning of skeletal asymmetries and answers questions about involvement of the cranial base, maxilla, mandibular body, ramus and/or condyle. Direct measurements of right and left differences in CBCT slices can lead to misdiagnosis of asymmetry location and treatment planning. Diagnosis of skeletal asymmetries requires proper use of mirroring image techniques and understanding of positional and morphology differences between left and right sides in the 3 planes of space.
