Surgical Alteration of the Occlusal Plane to Maximize Functional and Esthetic Outcomes

Some orthodontic patients are functionally and esthetically compromised related to their facial morphologies associated with abnormal occlusal plane angles. This presentation will identify patients who benefit from surgical alteration of the occlusal plane with clockwise or counter-clockwise rotation of the maxilla and mandible, as well as present the evidence-based protocols necessary to achieve predictable and stable high quality outcomes.

• Comprehend the adverse functional and esthetic factors associated with abnormally low occlusal plane angle and high occlusal plane angle facial morphologies
• Identify patients who can benefit from orthognathic surgery for alteration of the occlusal plane
• Recognize the advantages and implement the treatment protocols for surgical alteration of the occlusal plane

Is Tooth Transplantation Still a Valid Option in Dentistry?

This lecture will present advantages of the application of tooth transplantation in patients with congenitally missing teeth, traumatically lost central incisors, or impacted teeth.

• Select donor teeth which can be succesfully autotransplanted
• Determine the criteria for the successful outcome upon tooth transplantation
• Describe the benefits of the application of tooth transplantation in growing children
