We are practicing during an amazing time in the history of orthodontics. New technologies are emerging daily. Some of these innovations are merely hype, while others are incredibly powerful tools to improve the quality of our clinical care as well as our practice efficiencies and effectiveness. This lecture will explore an often-overlooked yet extremely important aspect of these emerging technologies. The modern, tech-savvy orthodontic patient now uses computers, media, and digital technology almost instinctively. Their view of the world is different from that of previous generations, and this difference affects their learning, interactions, and relationships significantly. As health care providers and members of the orthodontic team, we must learn to utilize technology in order to effectively connect and communicate with this generation in order to succeed both clinically and economically. You simply can’t afford to miss this!

Dr. Bills is a Board Certified Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics and a Fellow of the American College of Dentists. He maintains a state-of-the-art private practice, Innovative Orthodontics, with two locations in Southern New Jersey, just outside of Philadelphia. Dr. Bills has held several local and national positions in the American Dental Association and is a Past-President of the Southern Dental Society of New Jersey. Dr. Bills is a published author and is on the Editorial Board of Orthodontic Practice magazine. He is on the Orthodontic Faculty at the University of Pennsylvania and is on Staff in the Department of Dentistry at Virtua Hospital, and he has been honored as “Teacher of the Year” at both of these prestigious institutions. He lectures regularly, both stateside and abroad, and gives in-office courses, about a variety of clinical topics as well as how to better utilize technology in orthodontic and dental offices.
